Street markets
There's no better way to soak up the local atmosphere and, at the same time, get the freshest produce than to visit one of the weekly food markets in the areas. The nearest are:

Monday - Servigliano (1st & 3rd of the month)
Tuesday - Gualdo
Wednesday - Amandola
Thursday - Sarnano
Friday - Montefortino
Saturday - Comunanza.
There's an antique/second-hand market in Ascoli Piceno the 3rd weekend of every month.

Supermarkets
In Monte San Martino itself there is a small COAL supermarket which is surprisingly well stocked with fresh and cooked meats, fruit and vegetables and dairy (including fresh milk which is perfect for that English cup of tea). There's also a good range of packaged goods, including a huge selection of pastas. Closes for a long lunch daily and on Thursday afternoons.

The best place for large supermarkets is Amandola with a MaxiCOAL (the biggest and open all day) and CONAD (we prefer this for fresh food.)

For a really big hypermarket, head towards Fermo and go to the OASI at Girasole shopping centre which is right on the main road.

Specialist food shops
The best places for butchers, bakers, delis etc. are Amandola and Servigliano.
